An undertrial, who was arrested in a kidnapping and murder case, today gave police a slip from a government hospital here where he was brought for a medical check-up.
Nazar Mohammad Dar, a resident of Rakh Shalina village of Chadoora, escaped from SMHS hospital where he was brought by a police party from Central Jail, Srinagar, a police officer said.
He said Dar was arrested some time back in a 2011 kidnapping-and-murder-case registered against him in police station Pampore.
A fresh FIR has been registered against him in police Station Karan Nagar and a departmental inquiry was ordered regarding his escape, the officer said.
Action as per law is being taken against the personnel who were accompanying Dar, he added.
