The 4th annual Breast Imaging Society of India (BISI) conference was today inaugurated at PGIMER here by Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Anupriya Patel.
Speaking on the occasion, she highlighted the increasing incidences of breast cancer and related deaths in the country due to lack of awareness regarding breast screening examinations and cancer detection in the advanced stages.
Patel praised "Asha Jyoti: Women's Health Care Mobile Outreach Programme" started by the Department of Radiodiagnosis and Imaging, PGIMER in 2012, an official release said.

The Minister regretted that about 50 per cent women with breast cancer are dying in India as compared to 25 per cent breast cancer deaths worldwide.
She stressed on the role of early diagnosis in prevention and treatment of breast cancer.
