United even in death: Couple married 44 years die hours apart

A couple who had been married for 44 years died just hours apart and later buried in the same grave.

An elderly woman, Christy (67) collapsed and died on the coffin of her husband Manoharan (70) during his funeral service at the Christ Church here last evening.

The are survived by their son Stephen and a daughter.

Manoharan had passed away yesterday due to old age related ailments and the funeral service was being conducted in the evening. As the service was underway, Christy suddenly collapsed and fell on her husband's coffin, their son Stephen said.

Doctors summoned to the spot declared her dead, he said.
 

The family then buried them at a cemetery, one on top of the other.
