UP businessman arrested in Shirdi for murdering wife, 2 kids

A 45-year-old businessman, a resident of Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh, has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife, son and daughter in a hotel room here two days ago, police said.

Santosh Mourya, who was arrested last night, confessed to have killed his wife Manjita (34), son Sujal (8) and daughter Sonal (13) by strangulating them with the wire of mobile phone charger, they said.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Vivek Patil said financial crisis drove Mourya to the horrendous act.

The family arrived here on September 7. On September 9, Mourya gave sleeping pills to his wife and the children, and later strangled them.
 

He had suffered heavy losses in the business of imitation jewellery, Patil said, adding further probe was on.
