Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav today requested the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make available Rs 1500 crores in this financial year for the potable water projects in the rural areas of the state.
In a letter written to the prime minister, Yadav stressed the necessity of giving momentum to ongoing or sanctioned potable water projects, saying any cut in implementing this basic infrastructural facility will not be in peoples interest.
In the financial year 2014-2015, Rs 1,03,836.53 lakhs were provided to the state for drinking water projects being run in the rural areas under the National Rural Drinking water programme, the letter said.
The chief minister requested for timely release of funds without any cut, the letter added.
