UP police bans wearing of low-waist trousers by its personnel

Uttar Pradesh police has banned wearing of low-waist trousers by its policemen in the state and have issued directive in this regard.

According to the new directive, women personnel have also been asked to wear shirts and trousers in place of salwar kameez or saree, some of them wear presently.

"A committee headed by ADG (Law and Order) Mukul Goel was constituted by DGP A L Banerjee recently to regulate uniform wore by policemen. On its recommendation, wearing of low-waist pants/trousers by policemen has been banned in the state", IG (Law and Order) A Satish Ganesh said.

He was replying to a question related to wearing of tight- fitting and low-waist paints by policemen, like the ones seen in Ajay Devgan-starrer 'Singham'.
 

He said directives in this regard has been issued by the DGP.

Women personnel can also wear tunic and pants, according to the directive.
