Refined soya oil prices were higher by 0.35 per cent to Rs 608.15 per 10 kg in the futures market today as traders created fresh positions amid pick up in demand in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, refined soya oil for delivery in May rose by Rs 2.10, or 0.35 per cent to Rs 608.15 per 10 kg with an open interest of 44,640 lots.

Likewise, the oil for delivery in June contracts edged up by 80 paise, or 0.13 per cent to Rs 612 per 10 kg in 51,070 lots.

Marketmen said fresh positions built up by traders, driven by uptick in demand at the spot market against restricted supplies from producing belts mainly attributed the rise in refined soya oil prices at futures trade.
