Amid pick up in demand at the domestic spot market and restricted supplies from producing regions, mentha oil prices were up 0.65 per cent to Rs 1,011.80 per kg in futures trade today as participants built up fresh positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in December went up by Rs 6.50, or 0.65 per cent, to Rs 1,011.80 per kg, in a business turnover of 65 lots.

Likewise, the oil for delivery in January 2017 traded higher by Rs 2.90, or 0.29 per cent, to Rs 1,018.30 per kg in 97 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by speculators, driven by pick up in demand from consuming industries in the spot markets against restricted supplies from Chandausi led to the rise in mentha oil prices in futures trade.
