US provides USD 400 million aid for Pak police training

The US today provided a grant of USD 400 million for capacity building of Pakistan's police forces.

US Assistant Secretary of State William R Brownfield, Head of Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, announced this while opening an elite police training centre here.

The US assistance also includes provision of helicopters, vehicles and other equipment.

The first phase of assistance worth USD 9 million has concluded with the completion of the training centre. From next year, another USD 11 million would be provided to Pakistan, he said.
