The US-India Business Council (USIBC) which represents the American companies in India has welcomed the nomination of Deputy National Security Advisor Mike Froman as the United States Trade Representative.
"Mike Froman has played a vital role in the US-India trade and commercial relationship as the US Government's chair of the US-India CEO Forum, and US 'Sherpa' for the G20," said USIBC president Ron Somers yesterday.
Somers added that there is no individual better qualified to fill this important position at this crucial time than Forman.

He has a major hand in planning President Barack Obama's historic visit to India in November 2010.
Forman has played a key role in trade and business relationship between the two countries, as a result of which it has now crossed USD100 billion for the first time.
"USIBC has underwritten a study for an Economic Cooperation Arrangement between the two countries to explore the contours for a potential free trade agreement between the United States and India, the world's largest free-market democracies," he said.
