City unit of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) here today took out a procession to mark festival 'Janmasthami'.
The procession was flagged off by State Assembly Speaker Vajubhai Vala and Gujarat Municipal Finance Board chairman Vijay Rupani at Mavdi Chawk this morning.
"More than 100 tableaux made by various education institutes and NGOs were on the display in decorated trucks and other vehicles in the procession," said VHP Rajkot unit secretary Chimanbhai Sindhav.
As part of the celebrations, district authority office has also organised a six-day long "Lokmela" at Race Course ground. The lokmela was inaugurated by state finance minister Nitinbhai Patel on August 15 and nearly twenty lakh people across the Saurashtra region, are expected to visit the fair.
