Wheat procurement in Haryana up by 10 pc

Wheat purchase in Haryana was up by 10 per cent to 64.69 lakh tonnes during the current procurement season.

As much as 58.62 lakh metric tonnes was bought during the corresponding period last year.

While stating this here today, a spokesman of the Food and Supplies Department said the government agencies have procured 64.66 lakh tonnes of wheat; whereas 2,788 tonnes of wheat have been purchased by traders.

Haryana is eyeing wheat procurement of 65 lakh tonnes for the current season.

He said that HAFED has purchased highest 25.04 lakh tonnes of wheat followed by over 17.92 lakh tonnes purchased by Food and Supplies Department.
 

Similarly, Agro Industries Corporation has purchased over 5.74 lakh tonnes, Haryana Warehousing Corporation over 6.33 lakh tonnes, CONFED over 1.62 lakh tonnes and Food Corporation of India had procured over 7.99 lakh tonnes of wheat during the current procurement season so far.
