Former Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today assured the farmers of Amloh town near here that he will ask the Centre to set up a food processing unit in the area.

He said he will discuss it with his wife and Union Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal so that the long pending demand of the farmers of the area is met.

Sukhbir alleged that Chief Minister Amarinder Singh was rolling back the grants issued by the previous SAD-BJP combine government for development works.

"It is an anti-people stand of the government and the people of the state will not tolerate it," he said.

The Akali Dal leader alleged that the Congress government was "backtracking" on its poll promises, including waiver of farm loans and cheap meals.

He asked the party leaders to forge unity among the cadre.
