Woman commits suicide on Raksha Bandhan

A woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in her brother's apartment after Raksha Bandhan celebrations here, the police said today.

It seems she hanged herself last night. The victim, a resident of Lucknow, had come to celebrate the festival with her brother here, they said.

Her brother has claimed that yesterday after the celebrations she had gone to a room to sleep and today her body was found hanging from the ceiling fan, the police said.

Sector 49 Police Station in-charge Parshu Ram said, "The body has been sent for post mortem. Prima facie, it appears to be a suicide."
 

The matter is being investigated, he said.
