A woman allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself after being 'harrased' for dowry by her in-laws at Jawahar Colony in the district.
According to police, Ritu was found hanging from the ceiling of her room on September 28.
The victim's father alleged that his daughter, married for the past five years, was harassed and tortured by her husband, Dilip and in-laws for dowry.
Police said the woman's parents alleged that her in-laws have forced her to take the extreme step.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC in this regard and the matter is being probed, Investigating Officer ASI Jagbir Singh said.
