Woman held with drug worth Rs 8 lakh

A 34-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly carrying drug smack worth nearly Rs 8 lakh, police said today.

City Police Station in-charge Vinod Kushwah said they recovered 80 gram of smack from a woman identified as Puja, while she was intercepted near Ramghat here.

She was travelling from Pratapgarh in Rajasthan.

"Seized smack is worth about Rs 8 lakh. This is for the first time that in the last couple of years a woman has been arrested from Mandsaur with narcotics substance. The woman, held yesterday, admitted that she is involved in drug trafficking and that her husband is a drug addict," the officer said.
 

He said the accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and further investigations are underway, he said.
