Woman molested by drunken holi revellers

A woman was allegedly molested and her husband thrashed up by five youths at Uttarpara in Hooghly district, police said today.

The couple has lodged a complaint with the local police station alleging the group of drunken Holi revellers first passed lewd comments as the duo was returning home on a bike on the Holi yesterday.

As the man protested, he was beaten up severely by the goons who also molested the woman wheh she tried to shield her husband, the couple said in the complaint.

Police said going by the description given by the woman the attackers, against whom cases of eve teasing, outraging modesty of a woman and assault have been lodged, have been identified.
 

The accused were absconding, police added.
