A woman and her newborn child died at a private hospital here today, allegedly due to the negligence of the doctors, the police said.
Khushbu Singh (24) had delivered the baby in the morning at the hospital in Khalilabad. Soon after, both the mother and child died, the police said. The family members held the doctors responsible for the deaths, they added.
An FIR had been registered in this regard and a probe was on, B B Singh, Station House Officer (SHO), Khalilabad police station, said, adding that the exact reason for the deaths would be known once the post-mortem report was available.
No arrests have been made so far in the matter.
Infant deaths in Uttar Pradesh have been under the scanner, following a number of such incidents reported from the state.
