Women arrested for allegedly kidnapping infant from hospital

Two women were arrested for allegedly kidnapping an infant from a private hospital at Jagtial town in Karimnagar district of Telangana state, nearly 50 km from here, on Wednesday.

According to Jagtial town Circle Inspector A Naresh Kumar, the main accused namely V Sravanthi (24) of Kothapalli village of Karimnagar, had suffered termination of pregnancy twice.

After her relatives asked about her pregnancy, she duped them claiming that she is carrying.

However, today morning Sravanthi and her grandmother Y Satyamma (54), allegedly kidnapped a seven-days-old infant from a private hospital in Jagtial and fled the spot.

The infants's mother noticed it and informed hospital authorities.
 

Hospital staff and the public searched the town and caught hold of the women alongwith the stolen infant.

The police reached the spot, registered a case and sent the accused to judicial remand. The case is being investigated, the police official said.
