A young lawyer, who was also a former national level shooter, was shot dead by unidentified persons at a park in Sector 27 here, police said today.
The bullet riddled body of 34-year-old lawyer, identified as Sukhmanpreet Singh Sidhu, was found in a park in Sector 27 here late last night. Some passerby spotted the body and informed the police.
"Sukhmanpreet was declared as brought dead when he was rushed to the hospital," Assistant Superintendent of Police (East), Guriqbal Singh Sidhu said.
"The motive of murder is not yet known. We have registered a case in this connection," he said.
The ASP said said that the victim's car was recovered from near the crime spot.
He also said that the victim was grandson of a retired judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
A resident of Mohali, the young lawyer was the chairman of a Mohali-based law firm.
He was also a former national-level shooter.
