Youth fires at 35-year-old man

A youth today opened fire on a 35-year-old man following an altercation between the two in Gole Market area of New Delhi area reportedly over jumping a queue at a sweet shop, police said.

The victim, who was shot in the head, is battling for life in a city hospital.

The incident took place here this evening, when the accused, identified as Neeraj Kumar (28) reached a famous sweet shop at Mandir Marg to buy 'jalebi'.

"Kumar had an altercation with the victim, identified as Satender Singh (35) over standing in the queue. The altercation soon turned ugly and Kumar, who works with CMS - a security agency - took out his gun and shot Singh in his head," said a senior police official.
 

Following the incident, a police van rushed the victim to Lady Hardinge Medical College and Hospital where his condition was said to be critical.

Kumar was arrested from the spot and the gun recovered. A case under various sections of IPC has been registered against him, the official said.

Investigators have collected the CCTV footage from the camera installed at the spot in which the incident is said to have been recorded, police said.
