Zinc futures traded 1.12 per cent lower at Rs 119.25 per kg today as speculators trimmed positions, tracking a weak global trend.
Zinc for delivery in March declined by Rs 1.35, or 1.12 per cent, to Rs 119.25 per kg at the Multi Commodity Exchange. It clocked a business turnover of 672 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in April softened by Rs 1.35, or 1.11 per cent, to Rs 119.90 per kg in eight lots.
Analysts said the weakness in zinc at futures trade was mostly attributed to a weak trend in the base metals pack in the global markets after a key gauge of factory activity in China showed conditions deteriorated for a record seventh month, underscoring concerns about the outlook for demand in the world's biggest consumer.
