Sensex gains; blue-chip earnings cheer

MUMBAI (Reuters) - The BSE Sensex rose on Monday to close near its highest in a month, led by gains in consumer goods manufacturer Hindustan Unilever, which posted a better-than-expected quarterly net profit and Hero MotoCorp, which also rose after a profit beat.

Hindustan Unilever Ltd rose 6.95 percent, while Hero MotoCorp Ltd ended 3.25 percent higher.

The BSE Sensex gained 0.52 percent, while the 50-share Nifty ended up 0.56 percent.
