12.69% Paper Traded For Rs 108 Crore

The debt segment of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) witnessed activity worth Rs 430.90 crore yesterday.
The interest, in the securities market, was mainly in the shorter and the medium-term maturity segment. Among the issues which saw hectic trading were the five-year 12.69 per cent and the 12.14 per cent government loans which saw prices appreciate.

The 12.69 per cent government loan maturing in 2002 was dealt for Rs 108 crore at 12.52 per cent yield and the 12.14 per cent government loan maturing in 2000 changed hands for Rs 55 crore at 12.09 per cent yield.The certificate of deposit of ICICI bank maturing in January 1998 was traded for Rs 5 crore at 11 per cent yield.
The 364-day treasury bills saw deals worth Rs 84 crore being struck with those maturing in April 1998 drawing interest of Rs 54 crore at 9.55 per cent yield.
The corporate debentures section saw dull trading for Rs 42.69 lakh of which the zero per cent Reliance PPD issue maturing in 2000 saw trades worth Rs 30.47 lakh at 17.44 per cent.
The call rates ruled soft yesterday. Overnight money opened at 5.5 per cent levels and came down subsequently to 4.5 per cent to 4.75 per cent with stray deals being reported at 4 per cent.
