A Cricket Portal That Says Go For It

The Hindustan Times and Chase Partners promoted go4i.com Pvt Ltd yesterday announced the launch of a vertical portal go4cricket.com, the official site of Rahul Dravid, Sanath Jayasuriya, Moin Khan and Shahid Afridi.

Speaking at a star-studded launch, minister of state for information and broadcasting, Arun Jaitley, said, "The name exemplifies the creative ability (of the portal managers) to go `for' cricket at a time when people are going `at' it."

Go4cricket.com is a joint venture between go4i.com, Mid-day Publications, Mumbai, with strategic investments by a clutch of private investors, including reputed lawyer Raian Karanjawala and journalist-turned-sports entrepreneur Lokesh Sharma.

While Sharma is the managing director of go4cricket.com, Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi is the chairman and sports consultant.

 

According to one of the shareholders, go41.com will hold 50.5 per cent stake in the venture, Mid-day 10 per cent and private investors, including Sharma and Karanjawala, will hold the rest.

On go4cricket.com users will also be able to witness the action of Asia Cup, download pictures of the game and see the scoreboard being updated every 60 seconds. Fans also get to ask questions and discuss the ongoing match with experts like Pataudi.

A link away are special tips on cricket, articles by cricketers and personal photo albums. Select memorabilia will also be auctioned on the site.

For the launch of the portal, Pataudi interviewed Indian coach Kapil Dev in a free-wheeling conversation which dwells on participation of cricketers in the management of the game and the shape of things to come.
