Advance Planning By Dot

Communications minister Ram Vilas Paswan called for advance planning by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to ensure continuous supply and availability of equipment in a phased manner.

Speaking at a meeting of Telecom Equipment Manufactur-ers Association and Telecom Cable Developers Association Paswan said, "This will ensure that the people do not face any shortage of equipment at any point of time."

He said to improve the procurement process, the system of decentralisation is being strengthened on a continuous basis.

He said equipment requirement is expected to increase tremendously to meet the targets set by the New Telecom Policy, 1999.
