Steady conditions marked trading yesterday on the Calcutta Stock Exchange (CSE) with key scrips encountering fresh support. While ITC remained distinctly range bound at higher levels, State Bank of India evoked active interest from bull operators to gain new ground.

Brokers said that some operators were seen enlarging their holdings in select scrips which looked, besides helping to push up the overall turnover.

However, there was no disposition to carry the buying far due to budget-related caution, they said.

In the specified list ACC closed at Rs 1,426 while Tisco finished at Rs 198 and ITC at Rs 424.

Among others CESE was pegged at Rs 57.50, Hind Motor Rs 18.50, Jaiprakash Rs 17.75 and India Petrochemicals Corporation Ltd at Rs 122.

In the non-specified list ITC Classic was placed at Rs 35, Orkay Rs 6.50 and Chambal Fertiliser at Rs 12 with GE shipping steady at Rs 44.
