Aiims Team To Examine Ashok Jain

The additional sessions judge hearing the anticipatory bail petition of Benett & Coleman chairman Ashok Jain yesterday ordered his medical examination by an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) team.
The court asked the AIIMS director to send a board, consisting of two cardiologists from the hospital, to examine Jain at the citys Apollo Hospital.
The judge asked the board to submit its report to the court on the Jains present state of health, including any other fact which the doctors may consider proper in the history, ailment, treatment and present state of health of the patient.

Jain has pleaded for bail in anticipation of being arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on the grounds of suffering from heart disease. The directorate is probing charges of alleged Foreign Exchange Regulation Act (Fera) charges against Jain.
The hearing on the bail application has been deferred till July 1. The question of interim protection to the petitioner shall be considered on that date, the judge said.
