All-Round Gains

Share prices on the Calcutta stock exchange opened on a firm note yesterday with prices showing all-round gains led by the Reliance scrip. The trading witnessed swings both ways reflecting alternate bouts of buying and selling centered on key scrips.
The turnover was fairly large and undertone remained healthy despite profit takings at higher levels. The 50 share CSE index closed at 117.47 points gaining 1.1 points after rallying to 118.17 points. The days low was 116.31 points.
Marketmen felt that the downtrend adjustment in prices was a welcome development because of recent sharp rallies. The correction, they said, would have to be extended, if the markets health was to be improved. In the specified list ACC closed at Rs 1234, ITC at Rs 496.50 and Tisco at Rs 191.70, while Tata Tea finished at Rs 377.20, Telco at Rs 462.90, Indo Gulf at Rs 34, Hind Motor at Rs 13.40 and SBI new at Rs 324.80.
