Indian Railways have identified three locations for setting up budget hotels as part of an ambitious plan to attract rail travellers, particularly tourists, to historical and religious centres.

S Ramanathan, general manager of South-Eastern (SE) Railway, Calcutta during his recent visit to the Nagpur division said that the budget hotels, having three-star comforts, would soon be set up at Bhubaneswar, Ranchi and Puri.

The railways have identified these three centres on the basis of tourists inflow, commercial and pilgrim importance and convenient rail links, Ramanathan said. Details were being worked out and the project would be launched as soon as required budgetary provisions were made, he said.
