Burnt Tibetan Exile Dies, Compatriots Threaten Stir

Tibetan exile Thupten Ngodup, who suffered 90 per cent burns while attempting self-immolation here on Monday, died yesterday night, hospital sources said.
Ngodup, who in a sudden act set himself ablaze after three fasting compatriots were forcibly removed by police, died of cardiac arrest at 0005 hours, the sources said. Thuptens body was handed over to the Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) members after post-mortem. The body will be taken to Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh for cremation.
Meanwhile, the TYC yesterday threatened they might resort to violence to achieve self rule in tibet. We have not resorted to any violent means till date to achieve our objective despite provocation and suppression. But now it seems we have to think afresh, Norbu said.

Asked if the self-immolation by Ngodup, on Monday had embarrassed the Indian government, he said It was only an act of frustration.
The Delhi police has deployed the `rapid action force to ward off any possible untoward incidents at places where the second batch of five Tibetans are on fast-unto-death.
