China Companies Use Computers To Barter Away Stocks

Firms at a national commodity trade fair that opened on Monday bartered goods through a computer network connecting major cities, trading goods to firms in areas where demand for such products is high.
Distribution of goods is a major problem in China, where poor communication links often hinder the shipment of products and materials. Thousands of loss-making state-owned firms have huge stockpiles of goods they cannot sell.
