Cong Seeks Facts On Cci Chief Posting

BSCAL

The Congress has demanded that that the government should place all facts on the table regarding the appointment of CMD of public sector Cement Corporation of India (CCI) as the vigilance clearance for the candidate was not perfect.

Party spokesman Ajit Jogi yesterday demanded that the government should deny the rumours that it was planning to sell its holding in CCI to a multi-national company for a song.

When asked whether the party had proof to support the allegations, Jogi said that "whatever we have mentioned, we have mentioned with full responsibility".

Alleging a malafide intention on the part of the government in the way vigilance clearnace was obtained, the Congress said that even the vigilance commission has mentioned corruption charges being faced by the candidate though they were not yet proved.

The party has also said that as against the normal practice when a panel of 10 names were recommended for appointment, there was only one name recommended in the case of the CMD selection for the CCI.
