Customs Act To Be Reviewed

The government has constituted an expert group to examine the customs, banking and evidence acts. These acts will be examined in the light of emerging laws of electronic commerce to enable smooth transition to paperless trade. Inaugurating a workshop on electronic commerce here yesterday, commerce secretary P P Prabhu said the expert group would soon come out with its suggestions keeping in view the legal framework of electronic data interchange agreement approved by the UN.
