Defence Export Push To Uk, France

India will export defence systems to markets in the UK and France for the first time ever. The cabinet will discuss a new strategy for defence exports to these new markets later this month.
Enthused by the response Indian Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs) received at an interractive business session in London in January this year, the government wants to give a big push to defence exports.
Three DPSUs participated in the London meeting (which was organised by the British Ministry of Defence ) to showcase India's defence capability: Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Hindustan Aeronauticals Limited (HAL) and Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML). British defence companies were both surprised and delighted at the range of products Indian companies were capable of.

Subsequently, several British teams visited India and 18 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) have already been signed by the three companies.
Britain and most European countries are now outsourcing production of systems for equipment meant for the global defence market. India believes it can capture part of this market.
The idea is to produce components for the defence industries of those countries from whom India buys equipment. So after Britain, India is going to launch an aggressive marketing plan to sell components to Israel and France.
