Escorts Set To Relaunch Rajdoot

Escorts Yamaha is all set relaunch its Rajdoot model within the next six months.

The new model will have a host of innovations brought in by the Japanese company and is targeted at the rural segment. This was disclosed by Escorts Yamaha general manager Anil Katyal in Calcutta at the launch of the Yamaha RX 135.

The Yamaha RX 135 will be a replacement for the Yamaha RXG. There will be no change in the price which is fixed at Rs 42,000 per piece.

According to Katyal, the firm, a 50:50 joint venture between Escorts and the Japanese firm Yamaha, plans to introduce a minimum of one new model every year. Already Rs 175 crore has been invested in the venture which started production in late 1996 and a sum of Rs 500 crore will be invested within the next 18 months, Katyal said. The company has a paid up capital of Rs 25 crore. Its turnover is expected to touch the Rs 800 crore mark by the end of the current fiscal, which would be an estimated Rs 150 crore jump from the previous fiscal. It aims to produce 5 lakh units by the turn of the century from current level of 2 lakh units.

 

Escorts Yamaha ,also plans to roll out a 3-stroke engine by the end of the year.

At present, the company controls an all-India market share of 28 per cent.
