Fire At Ongc Well In Andhra Losing Intensity

The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) yesterday claimed that its crisis management team had been able to reduce the area and size of fire at the Mandapeta West on-shore well in Andhra Pradesh.
An ONGC spokesman told Business Standard that the size of the flames at the well, which had caught fire on Wednesday after a blow-out, had been reduced to around 15 metres from the earlier 40 metres. The fire-affected area had also been limited to around 15 metres. There has been considerable reduction in the sound level at the accident site.
The spokesman said that the expert team of Wildwell Control of the US was expected to reach Mumbai yesterday night. He said that the crisis management team of ONGC was working round-the-clock at the site. Water spraying had been going on continuously.
According to a Press Trust of India report from Chennai, experts of the ONGC from Dehradun and Baroda, along with those from the US, were expected to reach the blow-out site yesterday night.
