First Phase Of Enron Project To Be Operational By March 99

The first phase of Enrons Dabhol power project in Ratnagiri district was expected to be operational by March, 1999, the Maharashtra legislative council was informed yesterday.

Deputy Chief Minister Gopinath Munde, who also holds the energy portfolio, said in a written reply to a question by Bhaiyasingh Rathod and others that the state government had also given permission to two other companies to set up power projects in the state. These companies were Reliance Patalganga Power Pvt Limited and Central India Power Company Limited (Nippon Denro), he said.

A power purchase agreement (PPA) between the Reliance Patalganga Power Company Limited and the Maharashtra State Electricity Board was signed on August 3, 1996, Munde said.

 

The financial arrangements for the said project, to be located at Patalganga in Raigad district, were expected to be completed by August this year, the Deputy Chief Minister said.

A PPA between the Central India Power Company Limited and MSEB was signed for the power project to be set up in Bhadrawati, on August 19, 1996, he added.
