G'Nut Oil Up Again By Re 1, Sugar Calm, Bullion Eases

An upward-to-firm trend was noticed in groundnut oil yesterday on restricted supplies. Most other edible oils ruled easy-to-subdued at the wholesale oils and oilseeds market here yesterday.
Groundnut oil firmed up further by Re 1 at Rs 518 per 10 kg. Arrivals were placed around 80/90 tonnes a day.
Castor oil Commercial and BSS qualities eased by Rs 2 each to Rs 428 and Rs 440 per 10 kg respectively.

Linseed oil and copra oil white declined by Rs 5 each to Rs 440 and Rs 455 per 10 kg respectively on better availability of ready stock. Soya oil refined and sunflower oil expeller dropped by Rs 2 and Rs 4 to Rs 376 and Rs 402 per 10 kg respectively.
Imported palmolein eased by Rs 2 at Rs 352 per 10 kg on reduced industrial demand.
In futures, December contract opened Rs 4 lower at Rs 1,750 and closed to Rs 1714.50 a quintal. Castorseeds Madras and Maharashtra qualities declined by Rs 10 each to Rs 1958 and Rs 1952 a quintal respectively on sluggish industrial demand.
Sugar: A subdued trend was noticed in prices at the wholesale market here yesterday. Both grades ruled calm.
S-30 ruled dull at Rs 1465/1510 a quintal against its previous level of Rs 1470/1500. M-30 softened further to Rs 1475/1550 a quintal against Rs 1485/1555 on dull offtake.
Meanwhile, sugar for the check-post deliveries were quoted lower at Rs 1435/1450 a quintal for S-30 and Rs 1460/1475 a quintal for M-30.
Non-ferrous metals : An easy-to-dull trend continued in the local non-ferrous metals market yesterday.
Metals ruled easy-to-subdued.
Tin slabs and nickel cathodes dropped by Rs 4 and Rs 2 to Rs 382 and Rs 256 a kg respectively. Copper wirebar declined by Re 1 at Rs 123.50 a kg, while zinc slabs and lead ingots eased by 50 paise each to Rs 79.50 and Rs 45.00 a kg respectively. Aluminium ingots were nominally quoted at Rs 85.50 a kg on narrow movements.
Copper heavy scraps, copper utensils, brass utensils and brass sheetcuttings dipped by 50 paise each to Rs 108.00, Rs 94.50, Rs 83.00 and Rs 86.50 a kg respectively. Aluminium utensils ruled overall steady at Rs 63 a kg respectively.
Bullion: An easy-to-subdued trend was noticed in the local market yesterday. Both the precious metals ruled easy.
Silver .999 and .916 weakened by Rs 45 and Rs 35 to Rs 8,000 and Rs 7,875 a kg respectively. Delhi advices indicated a moderate trend.Both standard gold and 22 carat gold eased by Rs 5 each to Rs 4200 and Rs 3885 per 10 grams respectively. Gold biscuit prices eased by Rs 50 at Rs 49,300 per piece of gold bar on subdued movements.
