Hero Honda Net Doubles To Rs 36 Crore

The company's total turnover has vaulted to Rs 539.79 crore from Rs 356.97 crore. The figure for the whole of the last fiscal was Rs 782.83 crore. Hero Honda's net sales grew from Rs 352.74 crore to Rs 535.76 crore, while other income fell marginally from Rs 4.22 crore to Rs 4.03 crore. Gross profit (after interest, but before tax and depreciation), increased to Rs 61.45 crore from Rs 34.24 crore, while the total expenditure increased from Rs 318.66 crore to Rs 474.28 crore. The company has made a Rs 8.80 crore provision for depreciation for the six months up to September 30, 1997, as against Rs 8.03 crore in the corresponding period of 1996-97. The provision for tax stands at Rs 16.50 crore, up from Rs 8.15 crore in the first six months of last year. It plans to manufacture over 400,000 vehicles in the current financial year.
