Hind Sanitary Net Up 28.8%

Hindustan Sanitaryware & Industries Ltd (HSI), which markets its products under the brandname Hindware, achieved a turnover of Rs 120.16 crore for the year ended March 31, 1997. Net profit rose 28.8 per cent to Rs 12.32 crore against last year's Rs 9.56 crore. The board, while recommending a dividend of 40 per cent, has further sought to assess the performance of the first half of the current year before taking any decision on bonus shares.
The Somany group company, one of the largest manufacturer and exporter of sanitaryware in India, plans to stick to its core competencies and shift focus on a range of value-added products to tap the growing domestic and international market. This was revealed by a HSI official.
HSI, which has garnered a 32 per cent market share in the country, is drawing up plans to target the overseas markets like the US, Singapore and Taiwan.
