Inflation Rate Drops Below 6 Per Cent

The annual rate of inflation shed 0.37 percentage points and touched 5.98 per cent for the week ending May 3.
This is for the eighth week in succession that inflation has maintained a downward trend.
The decline is attributed to a fall in prices of wheat, atta, suji, bajra, moong, vegetables, eggs and fruits. Inflation stood at 4.57 per cent during the corresponding period of the previous year.
