Ipharma India Launches Vortal Pharmabiz.Com

BSCAL

iPharma India is out with pharmabiz.com, a vortal for the pharmaceutical industry that claims to provide any information about the Indian pharma sector.

The portal was inaugurated here yesterday by Suresh Prabhu, union minister of chemicals and fertilizers.

Other dignitaries present on the occasion were the Drugs Controller General of India Ashwini Kumar and B K Agarwal, the commissioner of the Maharashtra Food & Drug Administration.

The eventual aim of the portal is to delve into e-commerce that will allow visitors to trade in bulk drugs and generics as well as in pharma machinery, equipments and all other inputs used by the industry.

The thrust of the portal to begin with is on breaking news and reporting on developments in the industry together with weaving larger features on trends in the pharma sector.

According to a pharmabiz statement, "the section will have news and articles on policy matters in the Indian drug industry, regulatory changes, corporate developments, trends in research and technology fronts, international

news etc. These will be updated at least twice every day."

The other important segment of the portal is a Directory Listing witha database relating to pharma companies, industry associations, wholesalers and retailers, regulatory bodies, allied sector units, and their associations, exporters and importers, testing laboratories, research laboratories, doctors and surgeons, hospitals and clinics, hotels and resorts etc in India.

The directory section also has two subsections i.e., statutes and statistics.

While the statutes section contains the relevant

act, rules and regulations pertaining to the pharma industry, the statistics section provides basic

data relating to actual production and

demand of bulk drugs, demand projection for

bulk drugs during the 9th plan period, export-import figures of major bulk drugs, item and

quantity wise export and import figures of formulations etc.

The third segment is on services.

The section provides tender documents for annual purchases of medicines floated by various state governments and large public sector and private sector companies that are not usually easily available to several medium and small scale companies in India and abroad.

There will also be a listing of trade enquiries from various countries seeking to import drugs.
