Korean Group Plans $1b Investments In Maharashtra

The $6 billion Jinro group of S Korea is planning to invest upwards of $1 billion in ports and power projects in Maharashtra.

The group, which has interests in food and beverages, liquor and construction, plans to bid for some of the smaller power and roads and highway projects in the state.

Jinros director (overseas project division) Lee Jin Kook said no decision had been taken, but the group will submit its bids after February 18.

We have a lot of experience in construction and in infrastructure projects. We are capable of erecting any kind of project, he said.

The company is also interested in setting up water supply and water purification systems. Its total investment is likely to be more than $1 billion.
