Justice Satyanarayan Mangutlal Jhunjhunwala has a unique assignment. He is heading a panel appointed by the Securities and Exchange Board of India and his task "" to examine proposals for granting exemptions under the new takeover code, for which a set of conditions have been listed. His tenure "" two years.
Born on November 13, 1934 in Rajasthan, Justice Jhunjhunwala completed his LLB from the University of Mumbai, after which he enrolled as an advocate in the Bombay High Court on August 2, 1958. In May 1990, he was designated senior advocate of the High Court at Mumbai, to be later elevated as a Judge of the Bombay High Court. He retired in November last year.
Through his career he has taken a special interest in commercial law, property disputes, company matters and arbitrations, so the task now before him is cut to his taste. The capital market regulator has been doing a splendid job ushering in changes. The new assignment is very interesting as it falls under areas in which I have been active during my practice, he offers with enthusiasm.
