The rest of the 15 banks include KeyCorp, Mellon Bank Corp, Michigan National Corp, NationsBank Corp, PNC Bank Corp, Royal Bank of Canada, and Washington Mutual Savings Bank. The company said that Integrion will begin offering a broad range of interactive banking and electronic commerce services to banks in the US and Canada in early 1997.nReuter

Integrion will be owned and operated by the member banks and IBM.

The alliance between IBM and the banks will help ensure that banks can deliver secure convenient and reliable electronic banking services over the Internet and other computer networks, the company said

The combined banks represent a total retail banking population of over 60 million households, the company said.

 

Customers will be able to bank directly with the financial institution they have chosen, according to IBM and the banks. Bank customers will be able to access these services using a Web browser by connecting directly to their bank over the secure IBM Global Network or by connecting through the Internet using secure firewall or encryption solutions.

Customers will also be able to access bank services through the personal financial management software of their choice or through touch-tone phone, IBM and the banks said.
