Oil Price Hike

As a concerned citizen I have been following the political debate on the petro-product price hike. Left parties have proved to be an impediment in the petro-product price rationalization. Time and again, they have propagated the myth that the hike would unnecessarily burden the poor. In the name of service to the poor, the Left is serving its political interests, grossly overlooking the interests of the country.

The Kerosene prices in India are amongst the lowest in Asia. It is being used for adulterating diesel and petrol resulting in greater pollution.

The low price of diesel has resulted in the emergence of a large number of diesel luxury cars. Kerosene and diesel prices need to be rationalised immediately.

 

The present petro-policy would result in the closure of the refineries and long-term bankruptcy.

Is non-availability better than abundant availability at a higher price?
