Oilmeal,Oilseed Exports Rises

Export of oilmeals during 1996-97 stood at 4.311 million tonnes valued at around Rs 3,030 crore exported as against 3.952 million tonnes in the previous year. A total of 239,038 tonnes of oilseeds, valued at around Rs 573.28 crore, were exported against the previous year's 163,000 tonnes. According to Solvent Extractors' Association of India (SEA), the major export component was soybean extraction which topped the list with around 2.55 million tonnes valued at Rs 2,280 crore for the period against 2.28 million tonnes the previous year.
