Pi-International, Us Co In Alliance

BSCAL

Pi-International and US-based Radio Computing Services Inc (RCS) have signed a memorandum of understanding under which pi-International will develop software exclusively for RCS as the sole research and development centre.

Pi-International will develop software systems for radio broadcasting, Internet web-casting, and audio industries. These systems are the essential tools for digital audio playback, music scheduling, content management and delivery.

RCS' flagship product `Selector', a music scheduling software, is the industry standard and a standard tool for thousands of music stations worldwide over the last two decades. The new version of this will be developed by pi-International, which will be a database management product aimed at the Internet radio.

Other products being developed by pi-International include Tracker, TalkBack, and MusicBase.

Pi-International is developing Tracker, a high-capacity multi-track logging system, in the more-friendly Windows-NT environment from its old DOS version, improving its capabilities from an 8 channel to a 16 channel recording.

TalkBack is a talk-radio management system which includes an interface with the telephone and Internet.

The product under development will build a database of the respondents calling-up a radio station and will provide access to programme executives to enable better interaction.

Taking pride in the partnership, president and chief executive officer, pi-International, Peter Issac, said, "These broadcast solutions `Made with pride in India' by pi-International will be used world-wide and are sure to be the industry's benchmark. pi-International will assist in educating the Indian broadcast community in the understanding the state-of-the-art technologies in use worldwide."

Chief technology officer, Radio Computing Services, Theodore Nygreen, said, "In the 21-year old history of RCS, pi-International will be the first-ever division outside the US to develop software products for RCS for two reasons. Firstly, the experience of Peter Issac, which will give the vision to pi-International and secondly the source of software professionals with strong knowledge-base and skills existing in India."
