Plastro Lines Up Major Expansion

Plastro Irrigation Systems (India), a 50:50 joint venture between Pune-based Finolex group and Israeli Plastro Gvat, has decided to expand its manufacturing facility at Urse, near Pune, to achieve a growth rate of 30 per cent per annum.
The company plans to invest Rs 3 crore in the current year that will enable it to expand its production base and introduce new drip irrigation systems. It has already invested more than Rs 10 crore to set up a manufacturing facility at Urse.
Plastro Irrigation Systems has targetted a turnover of Rs 15 crore in the current year as against a Rs 11-crore sales achieved the previous year.

Plastro India was the first company to manufacture irrigation equipment as per Israeli design and specifications and has been the first firm to export drippers to Israel, besides South Africa, Australia, Egypt and Spain, said Subhas Sanzgiri, managing director, Plastro India.
The company manufactures sophisticated micro irrigation systems, pipes, pipe fittings and accessories.
Announcing the launch of Hydrogol, an in-line emitting next generation pipe system, Sanzgiri said the new product contributes Rs 2 crore per annum to its turnover and with local manufacture of Hydrogol the company hopes to double the figure.
Plastro India was the first company to provide know-how on intensive cultivation of strawberries in the plains of western Maharashtra and other parts of India. Last year, the company commissioned the countrys first computerised drip irrigation system for cotton cultivation covering 550 acre at Akola in Maharashtra. Plastro Irrigation Systems, with the help from its collaborators, are planning to set-up a college of agriculture and engineering here.
An agreement to this effect was signed with the government of Israels Centre for International Agricultural Development Co-operation by the company for the purpose of conducting training programmes.
